White Volcano Ride Notes
- Meet
at the at 9:00 at the East Avenue McDonalds in Chico, (from the 99 freeway
take the “East Avenue” off ramp, Mcdee’s is on the West side of the
freeway) we will leave at 9:30 – there’s a Chevron station across the
street from McDee’s, please be fueled up when you arrive.
- Arrive
early and have a wonderful McDonalds breakfast. Bring some food bars or
other snack to tide you over ‘till our late lunch stop at the Mineral Inn
at around 3:00.
- Anyone
is welcome to camp out in our front yard (we live in the mountains). I
will set up my tent or bring your own. PLEASE RSVP if you plan to camp out
on Friday night or Saturday night.

- Riders meeting at McDonalds at 9:15
- Leave McDonalds at 9:30 proceed south on 99 to
the Durham/Pentz Road offramp (11 Miles), turn Left, over the overpass.
- Proceed on Durham/Pentz for 9 miles, road will
dead end on Pentz road, turn tight
- ¾ of a mile to Hwy 70, turn left on 70.
- Enjoy the Hwy 70 curves for 56 miles, turn left
at the junction of 70 and 89 towards Greenville.
- Proceed on 89 for 6 miles and turn right at the
Taylorsville/Antelope Lake turnoff County Road A22.
- Be sure to bear to the right at the campground
in Taylorsville (restrooms at the campground), proceed 27 miles (watch for
decomposed granite on roadway) and turn right and over the dam at Antelope
Lake.
- Proceed 3 miles and turn right at Janesville
sign and go over the cattleguard.
- After 2 miles turn left (follow the signs to
Janesville)
- 15 miles to Janesville (Chevron Station) and Hwy
395. Turn left (North) on 395.
- Proceed north on 395 and after about 6 miles, at
the junction of 395 and 36, take 36 and proceed towards Susanville. If you
need gas, Susanville is the place. About 10 miles past Susanville, at the
junction of 36 and 44 turn right, towards Redding/Mt Shasta.
- Stay on Hwy 44 for 44 miles to the Hat Creek Rim
Scenic Overlook…This is a must stop…Besides the brand new restrooms, there
is a gorgeous view of both Mt Lassen and Mt Shasta.
- Proceed 3 more miles to the junction of 89 and
turn left towards Lassen Park.
- After 14 miles, turn left into Lassen Park (git
yer 10 bucks ready!)
- Proceed through the park for 35 miles. WATCH
your speed, they DO patrol and they DO write tickets. Turn right on 36 and
proceed 5 miles to the Mineral Lodge for late lunch.
- After lunch, proceed down 36 and at the junction
of 36 and 99, turn left to return to Chico via 99. If you want to
superslab it down I5, turn right on 99 and catch I5 in Red Bluff.
